BASILAN: Cabunbata Falls
Cabunbata Falls is just along the highway and concealed in a series of Mahogany and Rubber trees.
Right after visiting the Mabarakat Mosque, we dropped by a waterfall that is not as famous as Bulingan Falls of Lamitan City.
We Passed through the Menzi Rubber Plantation. After seven (7) kilometers from Isabela City, our service vehicle stopped by the roadside with Kuya Amado pointing out that the waterfall is right there.
Still straight out from a quick nap, I adjusted my eyes from the sudden bright sunny afternoon. From a distance a massive stone wall with water trickling from the very top came into view.
“Ang taas..” (“So high..”) I muttered silently as we crossed the road leading to the very catch basin of the falls. Some motorcycle riders were there at that time taking a break and washing their motorcycles before departing again.
During our visit the water seems to just trickle very lightly. This is due to the rains not visiting the province for quite a while. But what a sight this must be if the rainy season sent large volumes of water flowing down!
Braving Basilan: This adventure series narrates what transpired during my day trip across the island of Basilan, as I set foot on my 55th province last August 20, 2018. The road not taken and an eluded paradise – this has been once home to a terrorist group and historically also the staging ground for Moro Raids in Zamboanga.
Giving it the notoriety as one the most dangerous provinces in the Philippines in the past. Follow me as I show you the other side of the beautiful province of Basilan!
