Where is Bohol?

Bohol is located in the Central Visayas region, consisting of the island itself and 75 minor surrounding islands. The capital city is Tagbilaran City where the airport is located, while a newly opened international airport is located in Panglao. To the west of Bohol is Cebu, to the northeast is the island of Leyte and to the south, across the Bohol Sea, is Mindanao.

Bohol is not too far from Cebu that is why they share the same language which is Cebuano, but still, they have distinct way of speaking the language in the province.

Travel Tips:
  • Touring around Bohol is much better done in groups or by joining organized tours, check out the options below:
    • Country Side Tours: Book via KLOOK Country Side Bohol Tour and experience the usual places to visit in Bohol (one can either choose a private or joiners tour):
      • Blood Compact Shrine, Baclayon Church, Bilar Manmade Forest, Lunch Buffet at Loboc River Cruise, and Chocolate Hills Complex. (09:00am to 04:00pm)
    • One can also rent a private vehicle starting at 2500-3500php, to do the country side tour for 4 pax. You can contact Edgar Ozon at 0956 120 2694, to arrange your tour.
    • For solo travellers who’s in for an adventure, you can charter a habal-habal just like what we did, but I do not really recommend this since they are not accredited by the Bohol Tourism Office. Anyways, you can contact Kuya Brix at 0930 947 6688.
    • Or you can rent your own motorcycle to tour around Bohol!

  • Panglao Tour is done by private cars or motorcycles (Hinagdanan Cave, Sagbayan Peak , Mag-aso Falls, Punta Cruz Watchtower, Bohol Bee Farm).
  • Panglao Island Hopping tours of Virgin and Balicasag Islands you can book via KLOOK for a hassle free travel.
  • Anda, Bohol – tours of Cave Pools and Quinale and Talisay Beach around this area can also be arranged via private cars. But we only used public transportation to get here, from Tagbilaran City take any bus or van bound for Anda, travel time is around 1-2 hours.
    • Alternately if Anda bound bus or vans are not available, one can also take the Ubay or Jagna bound ones and alight in Guindulman-Anda Junction and from there flag a motorella going to Anda then to the place of your choice.

  • Candijay, Bohol – if exploring Cadapdapan Rice Terraces, Can-umantad Falls and other nearby attractions, habal-habal motorcycles are the best way to get along. They usually wait in Poblacion or Lungsoda-an areas. Tours start at 300php back and forth and varies depending on the number of places to visit.

  • Danao Adventure Park – This is an hour away from Carmen, Bohol and I suggest to charter a private car going here, or rent a habal habal just like what we did.

  • What we did with Day 01 is combine some of the Country Side Tours with Danao Adventure Park by chartering a habal-habal motorcycle tour. We paid 1700php for 2 persons you can contact Kuya Brix at 0930 947 6688.
  • Day 02 was spent via public transportation going to and from Candijay and Anda, Bohol.
  • Signal is always present but data reception in some parts are not that reliable.
  • If coming from Cebu take note of the departure times of the fast craft or ferries to avoid being left by the passenger vessels.
  • Bring refreshments with you and snacks to save money since food at some areas are steeper.
  • Practice LNT Principles at all times.
  • Respect locals and their traditions, we are just mere visitors in their humble abodes.
