Transit Pinas on another bike adventure visits Consuelo Beach in another NSFW Pampanga town, which is pronounced, roughly as, “Make a Baby” (Macabebe).

Perched on the edge of Manila Bay a couple of hours northwest of the capital city, the town of Macabebe is bringing the sexy back with a hidden beach that will somehow cure your itchy feet brought about by this pandemic.

Surrounded by 55 hectares of mangrove forest, Consuelo Ecopark sits at the mouth of Pampanga River as its river water transitions to join the Manila Bay.

Sunset Paradise

At the end of the 22 kilometer journey along the Babo Dike passing through the Barangays of Sulipan, San Miguel, Meysulao, San Francisco, Santo Nino, Bebe Matua, San Agustin, Puti, San Pedro, and finally Malauli lies the coastal barangay of Consuelo.

Water conditions here are actually not safe to swim or ingest as of writing as the DENR is still analyzing the water quality for fecal coliforms in the Manila Bay coastal areas. But locals, regardless of the hazard, still swim in Consuelo’s brackish water during their free time with the family.

Moreover, sand in here is not white but black, mostly lahar deposits from the 1991 Mt. Pinatubo eruption.

In addition, sunset watching in Consuelo Beach is as rewarding as your 22 kilometer bike ride, just look at the sun setting in her full glory.

If you’re into bird watching, make sure to visit this place from November to January as migratory birds flock this area. As of January 2021, there are 80,743 migratory birds, composed of 63 species observed in Pampanga alone during the Asian Waterbird Census (AWC).

Consuelo Beach is located inside the Consuelo Ecopark in Macabebe, Pampanga
From Apalit, you can pin in Google Maps the Sitio Caldera or Sulipan Bridge with Consuelo Beach as the endpoint

There are cottages, sari-sari store where you can stay and buy refreshments after the long ride

Road conditions are great even for road bikers as it is mostly paved from Apalit to Consuelo
There are bike stands in front of the municipal annex building where you can lock your bikes while exploring the area
