Ha Giang’s Quan Ba Fairy Bosom
PART 1: Northern Vietnam Adventure Series
Route 1: The Road Up Earth’s Fecundity
Half an hour along the now winding and steep roads, we stopped over in Quan Ba Pass which is also known as the “Heaven’s Gate”.
Quan Ba Fairy Bosom
Fog still covers up much of the area, but the first astounding vista on our two day journey, the Fairy Bosom is now right in front of us.
Two rounded breast like hills were formed on the valley of Tam Son Town. The hills stood side by side as it is surrounded by intricate patchwork of fields. In fact, unlike the erratic limestone formations that stretch around the area, these two are made from finely crushed limestones giving it their distinctive appearances.
Legend tells of a about a Hmong handsome young man who plays the hard and enticed a beautiful fairy from up above. They eventually had a child, but their love was prohibited. As a result, the gods then forced the fairy to come back to where she belongs so she left her breasts down below to nurture the baby.
National Monument
With the charming beauty and spiritual value of Twin Mountains, in 2010, Vietnam Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism official recognized this as a national monument.
Not far from here, it is said that an iron gate once stood upon entering Quan Ba town, this seperated the region from the rest of Vietnam. Eventually it was broken down, opening it to the rest of the people from the outside.
Our group enjoyed a cup of hot Vietnam Coffee to make up with the very cold weather. Right after, along the Highway 4C or Happiness Road, we continued our journey down Tam Son Town. We then resumed to the next leg of the journey.
Where is the Quan Ba Fairy Bosom?
Quan Ba Fairy Bosom is located along Highway 4C, it is far about 40 kilometers from Ha Giang town, belongs to Quan Ba district, Ha Giang province.
