A “Verified” Adventure Awaits! | Hiking Tinucan Circuit in Tanay, Rizal
Come and joins us on an another exciting yet easy hike in the Tinucan Circuit of Tanay, Rizal. This minor mountain is just a few cartwheels away from Mts. Maynoba and Cayabu and Mts. Ayngat and Kayangkangan.
Tinucan Circuit
Tinucan, Tanay, Rizal
Jumpoff: Tinucan Barangay Hall
LLA: 591 MASL (Mt. Tinucan), 530 MASL (Mt. Lilid)
Days required / Hours to summit: 1 day / 1-2 hours
Specs: Minor, Difficulty 3/9, Trail class 1-2
Easy Peasy Eh?
From the Brgy. Hall, the initial part of the trail is a continuous ascent amidst a bamboo and secondary forests which already warrants a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and rivers.
Moreover, Mt. Cayabu will be visible along the way and the riverbed trail from down below where our van parked for the day.
It will take you approximately 1 to 1.5 hours to reach Mt. Tinucan with a difficulty level of only 3/9.
Reaching the top, a communication tower marks the highest point at 590 meters above sea level. A sweeping landscape will welcome you in Tinucan Circuit. Also, there are loads of photo opportunity to satisfy your hunger for endless mountain vistas.
In addition, might as well hike early to catch the sunrise and the breathtaking sea of clouds which appears particularly during the cold months of December to February.
Purely Eye Candy
From Mt. Tinucan, the traversing trail ensues into meandering ridge with tall cogon grass on both sides. Purely eye candy, as I recall the view as we approached Mt. Lilid, just look at that stretch of trail cutting through the mountain ridges.
Unfortunately, after reviewing my GPS data, we failed to reach the forested summit of Mt. Lilid (562 MASL) as we took a sharp right around 490 MASL going down the Banana and Pineapple filled trail. Little did we know that Mt. Lilid will then continue on to Mts. Karbon, Natad and Piluktunan!
That explains why we all felt that we still have much energy left for the day as we reached the river trail where we spent an hour swimming near the hanging bridge. (Bitin, pentalogy na sana!)

P.S. On our way to the mountains of Magsaysay in Infanta, Quezon, upon easing of MECQ to GCQ status, we were denied entry due to lack thereof coordination between the tourism and the military checkpoint in Real despite the legitimacy of our travel.
Enroute to Brgy. Tinucan, we were verbally abused by a group of drunk military personnel of Tanay, Rizal while having late dinner, by-standers and waitresses were not spared. On top of that, we were even red-tagged as communist insurgents. (Must’ve got that from their Tatay, fist bump!)
Moreover, they are inebriated during the imposition of a liquor ban. On top of that, they’re not even wearing face shields, masks, and military uniforms. What’s worse is they are misinformed that it is already GCQ in NCR+, carrying of firearms on loose basketball shorts, and held us for an hour for no reason at all, only stating that we needed to be “verified”. (*shame *shame *shame)
