The Challenge of Taking Photos in Bohol’s Man Made Forest
With trunks growing resplendently straight towards the sky, the green foliage of mahogany leaves and branches seems to hug each other as they awkwardly join on the uppermost portions. The road with the yellow middle line makes up for a beautiful leading line going to the subject itself which is us.
“I really need to have a photo of me taken in here” I muttered as I craned my head, looking at the almost kaleidoscopic view of the leaves hiding the warm morning rays of the sun.
Honk those Daydreams Away
Under the canopy of lush Mahogany Trees whose branch curved on top, I was mesmerized with the view. Like giant sentinels standing on guard, this two kilometer stretch of forest from Loboc to Bilar is definitely a sight to see.
I was looking for a place to have my photo taken, almost in trance, looking up all the time, I completely forgot that I was walking in the middle of the highway. A loud honk echoed from afar that took me back to reality, as the car passed by some tourists who is also in some sort of awe as I am. From both sides, these giant trees grow abundantly, their giant brown trunks stretching forth from the earth up to the green canopy above.
From the populated barrios of Loboc, with farm lands and open areas, this Man-Made Forest is quite an exception. The road going here from the town proper of Loboc is steep and on one side, a deep ravine which are all densely forested. No matter how hot it is from the Barrios, the temperature here is much cooler since the thick overhanging canopies of these hardy yet nurturing trees cover the warm rays of the sun from above.
So the challenge now is to have my photo taken in the middle of the road, before any cars come again. One car passed by, I stood in the middle of the road, with the hint of another one coming, I ran back towards the side, then did this for a few times until I was satisfied. Please exercise caution, and also there are no parking areas around so the road side will be your temporary parking place.

How To Get There
From Tagbilaran City, take any Carmen bound buses or vans, and alight once inside this forest area in Bilar. The bus or van won’t wait for you though, you’ll have to wait for the next one after you had your photos takes. Another alternative is to join country side tours which includes this place in the itinerary to save time and effort.
